Terms of business

Quote Devil Ltd is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland as an Insurance Intermediary under the European Communities (Insurance Mediation) Regulations, 2005. The Financial Regulator hold register of authorised firms - our authorisations can be verified by contacting the Financial Regulator on 1890 77 77 77. The firm is also a member of the Irish Brokers Association (IBA).

What do we provide

Quote Devil Ltd and its website provides clients with specific products when they have determined their specific needs, and who understand the specific insurance products and product terms. The site does not provide advice to clients in relation to the appropriateness, suitability, or amounts of cover suited to their specific circumstances.

We arrange household insurance with Zurich Insurance Ltd. Mortgage Protection products are arranged with Zurich Life (formerly Eagle Star Life) and Caledonian Life. Motor Insurance – we have a panel of 14 different insurers. Other classes of insurance are arranged via Blue Insurances Ltd.

Investor Compensation Company Ltd (ICCL)

This firm is a member of the Investor Compensation Scheme established under the Investor Compensation Act 1998. This legislation provides for the establishment of a compensation scheme and to the payment, in certain circumstances, of compensation to clients of firms covered by the Act. However, you should be aware that a right to compensation will only arise where money or investment instruments held by this firm on your behalf cannot be returned either for the time being or in the foreseeable future and where the client falls within the definition of eligible investor as contained in the Act. In the event that a right to compensation is established, the amount payable is the lesser of 90% of your loss which is recognised as being eligible for compensation or €20,000.

In addition to the compensation available under the "Investors Compensation Act, 1998", Quote Devil Ltd is bonded through its membership of the IBA for €200,000 with an inner limit of €65,000 per client.

Runemeration Policy

Quote Devil Ltd is remunerated by commission on life and non-life insurance and may, in some circumstances, charge an arrangement fee, a risk management fee, a claim settlement fee or a combination of all three.

* Once you have paid your premium to us or arranged finance for the premium through our finance partners our set up / renewal fee is non-refundable.

**We will enforce cancelation of a policy due to, but not limited to non-payment, non-disclosure, provision of incorrect information or where the required documentation is not provided to us within the required timeframe.

In respect of life assurance contracts the company is remunerated by commission which it may at its discretion rebate part thereof to the insured. It is a condition of all policies incepted that the discounted first years premium is paid in full and a completed direct debit form in respect of the second and subsequent years premium (excluding discount) is provided with the application. If the premium is to be paid monthly for the first year it is not possible to avail of the discount. The monthly and annual premium will be displayed by the site.

All quotation indications provided on line are subject to receipt of a satisfactory completed proposal form and acceptance by the insurer. A medical report may be required.

Handling Clients' Money

Quote Devil Ltd will accept payments in cash, cheques, electronic transfers, in respect to all classes of insurance in circumstances permitted under Section 25G of the Investment Intermediaries Act 1995. Quote Devil Ltd is not authorised to accept cash or negotiable instruments in any other circumstances. Interest payable on balances in our Client Premium Accounts will be held for the benefit of QuoteDevil Ltd.

As the QuoteDevil site links into the Blue Insurances website for completion of the transaction for certain insurances, and that premiums in those instances are collected by Blue from the clients for these specific products.

Conflict of Interest

Quote Devil Ltd will make a reasonable effort to avoid conflicts of interest and when they cannot be avoided we ensure that our clients are fairly treated. If any potential conflict of interest arises, we will advise you in advance of providing any service to you.

Default by a Client

Premiums are due to be paid on or before the renewal/inception/alteration date. Failure to pay in full will result in us advising the product producer and they may restrict or cancel cover. We expressly reserve the right to offset credits/claim payments against outstanding balances due and following non payment we retain the right to terminate the cover and secure refunds to discharge the account. No agency transfer may be affected until the account is cleared in full. We may take legal action to recover any monies due to us.

Cancelation of Car and Commercial Vehicle Policies

Car or commercial vehicle policies cannot be cancelled by us until we receive written instructions from the insured and we receive the certificate and windscreen disc for forwarding to the insurer.

Receipts

Quote Devil Ltd will issue a receipt for each non-negotiable or negotiable instrument or payment received. This is required pursuant to Section 30 of the "Investment Intermediaries Act, 1995". These are issued with your protection in mind and should be stored safely.

Complaints

Any complaints regarding the service you have received from any member of staff should be addressed in writing to Graham Weir (Managing Director). If satisfaction is not received thereafter regarding the complaint, you may refer your complaint to the Financial Services Ombudsman, contact details for whom will be provided on request.

Government Insurance Levies

With effect from the 1st of August 2009 all insurance premiums quoted on the Quote Devil website include the relevant Government Levy. On Mortgage Protection Insurance this is 1%. On Motor / Home Insurance Policies the increased levy is now 5%.
